Flip of the Switch - The Is / Was Factor

July 14th Day 35

As the many months have passed since I've written, so much has occurred. Something called COVID19 came upon the world and has changed life as we once knew it. Over the last few months I've been watching the numbers from around the world. I've heard countless stories of desperation from healthcare workers, the cries of family members who have lost loved ones and tears of joy from those who were at death's door and have recovered in full. I have family members on the front line as essential workers and a family member who beat COVID19. As July came in I surely thought the worst was behind us only to watch the numbers begin to climb again.

This past weekend as I was perusing the news someone sent me an article on the passing of Morris Cerullo. Before clicking the link I typed his name into Google and saw the beginning of his bio on a website that started “Morris Cerullo (October 2, 1931 –) is an American Pentecostal evangelist”. I read briefly through the article and then refreshed my page. Within the span of a few moments the flip of the switch had happened. It now read “Morris Cerullo (October 2, 1931 – July 10, 2020) was an American Pentecostal evangelist. It hit me like a ton of bricks - the change from IS to WAS happened in moments.

I sat and thought how quickly this life passes us by and how quickly we go from Is to Was. Of course I began to look at my own life, all that I have survived, overcome and achieved. I also thought about where I am right now. I will be 50 in a few weeks should the Lord allow me to see it, and find myself - finding myself in so many ways! I began to say my name and add “WAS” afterwards and it had a major impact as I realized not only how much I have accomplished and how many lives I have impacted but also how much more I have to do. I thought about all the hundreds of thousands of people who have lost their lives this year to COVID19 and how many of them died quickly. They did not choose this disease nor this death but it was chosen for them. Many others have perished from so many other illnesses, heartbreak or just simply old age.

At the flip of a switch we go from IS to WAS. What are you doing or going to do with your IS? We have no control over WAS as it is Finished, but we can leave a legacy, we can set the groundwork for future generations, we can have our children's children's children read our bio and be proud. So I am speaking today to your IS, your right now, your Moment, your Breath, Your life Right NOW! Let's take a look at scripture. One of the first people I thought of was Moses and Joshua because from Deuteronomy 34 to Joshua 1 there was a flip of the switch.

Deut 34 1Then Moses climbed Mount Nebo from the plains of Moab to the top of Pisgah, across from Jericho. There the Lord showed him the whole land—from Gilead to Dan, 2 all of Naphtali, the territory of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the Mediterranean Sea, 3 the Negev and the whole region from the Valley of Jericho, the City of Palms, as far as Zoar. 4 Then the Lord said to him, “This is the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob when I said, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’ I have let you see it with your eyes, but you will not cross over into it.” 5 And Moses the servant of the Lord died there…

...9 Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit[b] of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him.

10 Since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face, 11 who did all those signs and wonders the Lord sent him to do in Egypt—to Pharaoh and to all his officials and to his whole land. 12 For no one has ever shown the mighty power or performed the awesome deeds that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.

Joshua Installed as Leader

Joshua 1 After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ aide: 2 “Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about

Literally Moses went from IS to Was. But think about it: Look how much Moses achieved during his IS. The bible states in vs 10 how much Moses added and did for Israel. Moses was not perfect, but did the work while he yet had breath in his body. I love vs 9 ..9 Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit[b] of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him.

Joshua received while in Moses presence and Moses imparted all of his IS spirit to prepare Joshua for the day that the switch would be flipped!! My God this is so powerful. Do you understand rather you are a servant leader, or worshiper, or intercessor or etc, you are in your IS moment. Allow the Lord to fill you and those you walk in covenant relationship with you to fill you with the spirit of wisdom, knowledge and understanding. Take hold of the TIME, take hold of Kairos, Talk hold of your IS! So I ask the question again “What are you doing or going to do with your IS?”
